About

Background

Hiya! I'm Alexa! I'm a self-taught mixed media artist from Georgia, currently working with a combination of abstract and realism artwork. My favorite mediums are acrylics, watercolors, pastels, and textured additives. I'm currently obsessed with painting and drawing birds. I love studying the differences between species and their little quirks. I also love coastal and nature artwork in general, so there is more to come in that area! I have a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Health and Behavior from Unity Environmental University. I'm passionate about my faith and the impact that kindness can have on the world. I hope to encourage people through my art and inspire others to create!

The Beginning of a lil canvas with big dreams.

I have been married to my amazing husband, Will, since June 2021. We met in ministry and he became my best friend so quickly. 10/10 man right there.

Right after Will and I got married, I ended up having back surgery because my spine was apparently broken for a while and slowly slipping off of my tailbone until finally I had a hard time even walking. The first year of marriage was definitely unexpected, but it helped us grow closer together and also to God. While I was waiting for surgery and also recovering afterwards, I wasn't able to work my job at the vet's office for a while. During that time, I started painting and selling artwork to help with our income. Eventually, I stopped and went back to work.

Then, there was an opportunity to help the campus ministry that we met in. For several years my husband and I have been working full-time as ministers and we have experienced a lot of life-giving moments, but also a lot of emotionally draining situations. I recently decided to look more into my art as a way of healing, spending time with God, and encouraging others. I'm choosing to dedicate extra time to painting when I have it, even though I don't do this full time. But who knows, maybe it will happen one day. :)
